About The Loop
The Loop is the historic commercial center of downtown Chicago. It gets its name from the "L" (Chicago's public transit train); which runs in a loop around the center of downtown. There are several historic sites downtown as well as a lot of night life and restaurants. Everything is within walking distance and public transportation is around every corner. If you are looking to escape from the "urban" setting, Chicago's lakefront is less than a half mile away.
